A chat with Gracie Manktelow

A journey to self-love.

We chatted to good vibes gal, Gracie Manktelow on self-love, inspiring others and her go-to affirmations to feel fab. x

  • How do you define ‘self love’?

I define self love as being confident in your own skin, and not worrying about what others think of my appearance. Self love is so important, it transforms the way you think about yourself and allows you to be your true and authentic self.

  • What inspired your journey of self-love and what have been the most pivotal points, or learning experiences along the way?

I have always been very shy and a fairly anxious person, I struggled a lot in high school with anxiety and it all drew from worrying about what others thought of me. I actually just decided this year that I deserve to be happy in my own skin and who cares what others think if I’m happy then that’s all that matters.

I also have the most incredible partner and he is always encouraging me to go outside my comfort zone and always helping me along the way. I started my self love journey to inspire others to start theirs, and to stop living in shame of their own body and start to show it love.

  • In your opinion, what are the biggest barriers to people feeling a sense of self love?

My biggest barrier was again worrying about what others thought of me, I put so many negative thoughts about my body in my head that no matter what I wore I was too big. It is not easy to change your mindset about yourself but that is why I’m doing this, I want to help others along their journey and know they aren’t in this alone.

  • What advice would you give others embarking on their own self love journeys?

You deserve to be happy and you deserve to feel beautiful no matter what. I find reading daily affirmations and quotes make me feel better, I also try to only follow people on social media that make me feel good, for example curvy girls, self love accounts etc.

  • What are your current favourite self love quotes or affirmations?

“No one is you and that’s your super power”, “The fact that you are trying is proof that you are strong”,“There is no weight limit on beauty”.
